Hoarding (Al-Takaathur)

8 verses, revealed in Mecca after Bounty (Al-Kawthar) before Charity (Al-Maa'oon)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

The emulous desire of abundance engrosseth you, 1 until you come to the graves. 2 Nay! you shall soon know, 3 Nay, but ye will come to know! 4 Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge! 5 you would see the fire of Hell. 6 Then you will see it with the eye of certainty. 7 Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)! 8

True are the words of God the Almighty.
