The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 The unbelievers would haply like to wish that they had submitted (and become Muslim). 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 Every nation can only live for the time appointed for it. 5 They say, "You to whom the Reminder [the Quran] has been sent down, you are surely possessed. 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 We have sent down this Exposition, and We will guard it. 9 We sent messengers before you to the previous peoples, 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 thus We cause this [habit of mocking] to enter into the hearts of the sinful. 12 they do not believe in it. This has been the wont of people of this kind from ancient times. 13 and even if We opened to them a door from heaven, and they began ascending through it, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
