Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 and the partitioners, 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
