NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 Except the people of the right hand, 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 About the guilty: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
