Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 nay, man shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 Even though he were to put up his excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 No! When the soul has reached the collar bones 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 He will then realise it is the parting, 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
