The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they have been differing? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
