The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
