Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
