Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ Abraham said: “Envoys (of Allah), what is your errand?” 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 And We found not therein more than one house of the Muslims. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 And the people of Nuh before, surely they were a transgressing people. 46
