And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
