Noah had called upon Us (earlier). See, how excellent We were in answering him! 75 And We saved him and his household from the great distress, 76 and We made his offspring the survivors. 77 And We let it remain upon him in the latter: 78 "Peace upon Noah among the worlds." 79 Thus do We surely reward the doers of good. 80 Verily he was of Our bondmen believing. 81 Then afterwards We drowned the rest. 82 ۞ Abraham was one of his followers. 83 He turned to his Lord with a sound heart 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 A lie-- gods besides Allah-- do you desire? 86 What do you imagine the Lord of the worlds to be?" 87 Then did he cast a glance at the Stars. 88 and said, "I am sick!" 89 And they turned their backs on him and went away. (The pagans thought he would transmit the disease). 90 Then turned he to their gods and said: Will ye not eat? 91 What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?" 92 And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand. 93 And (his people) came toward him, hastening. 94 He said: "Worship you that which you (yourselves) carve? 95 “Whereas Allah has created you and your actions?” 96 They said, "Let us build a fire and throw him into the flames". 97 They wanted to harm him, but We humiliated them all. 98 He said, 'I am going to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous. 100 We therefore gave him the glad tidings of an intelligent son. 101 And when he reached the age when he could work with him, he said, "O my son, I have seen in a dream that I am sacrificing you. So tell me what you think of it!" He replied, "O my father, do as you are commanded; and God willing, you will find me steadfast." 102 But as soon as the two had surrendered themselves to [what they thought to be] the will of God, and [Abraham] had laid him down on his face, 103 We called out: "O Abraham, 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 For this was obviously a trial- 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 and left for him among the later folk 108 Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 109 This is how We reward the virtuous. 110 he was among Our believing servants. 111 So We gave him the good news of Isaac, apostle, who is among the righteous. 112 and We blessed him and Isaac: but among the offspring of these two there were [destined] to be both doers of good and such as would glaringly sin against themselves. 113
