The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
