The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
