The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 unto a mighty day 5 The day when everyone will stand before the Lord Of The Creation. 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
True are the words of God the Almighty.
