Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
