O you who believe! do not devour usury, making it double and redouble, and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, that you may be successful. 130 And fear the Fire prepared for the unbelievers, 131 and obey God and the Messenger; haply so you will find mercy. 132 ۞ And vie with one another, hastening to forgiveness from your Lord, and to a garden whose breadth is as the heavens and earth, prepared for the godfearing 133 who spend [in His way] in time of plenty and in time of hardship, and hold in check their anger, and pardon their fellow-men because God loves the doers of good; 134 These are the ones who, when they commit any indecency and wrong against themselves, instantly remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins - for who will forgive sins save Allah? - and who do not wilfully persist in the wrong they did. 135 (As for) these-- their reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide in them, and excellent is the reward of the laborers. 136 Some traditions have been tried before you – therefore travel in the land and see what sort of fate befell those who denied. 137 This is a clear statement for men, and a guidance and an admonition to those who guard (against evil). 138 Do not, then, either lose heart or grieve: for you shall surely gain the upper hand if you are true men of faith. 139 If a wound touches you, a like wound already has touched the heathen; such days We deal out in turn among men, and that God may know who are the believers, and that He may take witnesses from among you; and God loves not the evildoers; 140 so that God may purge those who believe and wipe out those who deny the truth. 141 Did you think that you would enter Paradise even though Allah has not yet seen who among you strove hard in His way and remained steadfast? 142 Ye did indeed wish for death before ye met him: Now ye have seen him with your own eyes, (And ye flinch!) 143
