Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ BLESSED BE HE who holds the (reins of) Kingship in His hand, who has power over everything, 1 [He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving - 2 who created the seven heavens, one above the other. You cannot see any inconsistency in the creation of the Merciful. Return your gaze, do you see any crack! 3 Then turn your vision again, and then again; in the end your vision will come back to you, worn out and frustrated. 4 And indeed, We have adorned the skies nearest to the earth with lights, and have made them the object of futile guesses for the evil ones [from among men]: and for them have We readied suffering through a blazing flame 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the punishment of hell, and evil is the resort. 6 When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up. 7 Almost bursting for fury. Whenever a group is cast into it, its keeper shall ask them: Did there not come to you a warner? 8 They will say: "Yes indeed; a Warner did come to us, but we rejected him and said, 'Allah never sent down any (Message): ye are nothing but an egregious delusion!'" 9 And they will say, "If only we had been listening or reasoning, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze." 10 So they confess their sins. Curse the inhabitants of the Blaze! 11 As for those who fear their Lord in the unseen will have forgiveness and a rich reward. 12 Whether you speak in secret or aloud, He knows what is in every heart. 13 Shall not He who hath created know? And He is the Subtile, the Aware. 14
