Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 He forced it upon them with strength, consecutively for seven nights and eight days – so you would see those people overthrown in it, like trunks of date palms fallen down. 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
