He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
