Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
