The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ A. L. M. 1 The Romans are vanquished, 2 (within a few years) they will be victorious. 3 Within a few years. Allah's is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice, 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 The promise of God! God fails not His promise, but most men do not know it. 6 They know an outward part of this life, but of the Everlasting Life they are inattentive. 7 Do they not think deeply (in their ownselves) about themselves (how Allah created them from nothing, and similarly He will resurrect them)? Allah has created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, except with truth and for an appointed term. And indeed many of mankind deny the Meeting with their Lord. [See Tafsir At-Tabari, Part 21, Page 24]. 8 Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and dug up the earth, and built on it in greater abundance than these have built on it, and there came to them their apostles with clear arguments; so it was not beseeming for Allah that He should deal with them unjustly, but they dealt unjustly with their own souls. 9 And once again: evil is bound to be the end of those who do evil by giving the lie to God's messages and deriding them. 10
