The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created the human being 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn from smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
