The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
