The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
