He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
