Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
