The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
