۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 "Instead of Allah, and lead them on to the way of flaming Fire (Hell); 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
