The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
