Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the daybreak 1 by the Ten (secret) Nights, 2 by the odd and even (8th and 9th Dhil-hajj) 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Is there in that an oath for the mindful? 5 Did you not see how did your Lord deal with (the tribe of) Aad? 6 The people of many-columned lram. 7 The likes of whom had never been created in the land? 8 And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; 9 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord tries him and then is gracious and provides good things for him, he says: "My Lord has been gracious to me." 15 But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me." 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and you devour the inheritance [of others] with devouring greed, 19 and you love wealth with boundless love! 20 When the earth is crushed into small pieces 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 And when hell is brought that day – on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? 23 He shall say: O! would that I had sent before for (this) my life! 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 O soul that art at rest! 27 Return towards your Lord – you being pleased with Him, and He pleased with you! 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 and enter My Paradise.” 30
