Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
