Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 The fool among us spoke against God outrage, 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. 6 And indeed they imagined, even as ye imagined, that Allah will not raise any one. 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 And we were wont to sit on seats therein to listen; but whosoever listeneth now findeth for him a dartin meteor in wait. 9 And we know not whether evil is boded for those who are on the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth for them a right direction. 10 And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways: 11 And we know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force. 13 'Amongst us are some that submit their wills (to Allah), and some that swerve from justice. Now those who submit their wills - they have sought out (the path) of right conduct: 14 but those who have deviated shall become the fuel of Gehenna (Hell). 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." 19
