The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
