The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
