(Pharaoh) said unto the chiefs about him: Lo! this is verily a knowing wizard, 34 He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?" 35 They said: Give him and his brother respite and send heralds into the cities 36 And bring the ablest magicians to you." 37 So the sorcerers were assembled for the appointed time of a fixed day. 38 And the people were also asked to assemble. 39 Haply we shall follow the sorcerers if it should be they are the victors.' 40 So when the magicians came, they said to Firaun, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 41 He said: Aye, and ye will then surely be of those brought near (to me). 42 Musa said to them: Cast what you are going to cast. 43 Thereupon they threw down their ropes and their rods, and said: "By the glory of Pharaoh, we shall prevail." 44 Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified. 45 The magicians therefore fell down prostrate. 46 They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds, 47 The Lord of Musa and Haroun. 48 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave. Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you all." 49 They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 50 Surely we hope that our Lord will forgive us our wrongs because we are the first of the believers. 51

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
