And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
