Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 The perspicuous Book is witness 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 On that [night] was made clear, in wisdom, the distinction between all things [good and evil] 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 A Mercy from your Lord, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 6 the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them - if you could but grasp it with inner certainty! 7 There is no god but He: He gives life and causes death. He is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers of yore. 8 Yet they are lost in doubt and play. 9 So be on the watch for a day when heaven shall bring a manifest smoke 10 Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous. 11 Our Lord! remove from us the punishment; surely we are believers. 12 How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,- 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 We now remove the punishment for some days so you will again commit the same. 15 The day that We shall seize them with a grievous hold, We will indeed castigate them. 16 ۞ Already before them We tried the people of Pharaoh, and a noble Messenger came unto them, 17 "Give in unto me, O God's bondmen! Verily, I am an apostle [sent] unto you, worthy of trust! 18 And saying exalt not yourselves against Allah; verily I have come unto you with an authority manifest. 19 And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death. 20 'But if so be that you believe me not, go you apart from me!' 21 And he called to his Lord, saying, 'These are a sinful people.' 22 God said, "Set out with My servants by night, for you will certainly be pursued. 23 And leave thou the sea divided: verily they are a host to be drowned. 24 How many gardens and fountains they left behind them, 25 And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them (i.e. We made the Children of Israel to inherit the kingdom of Egypt). 28 And the heaven and the earth wept not for them, nor were they reprieved. 29

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
