The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the Great News 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
