The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 on a great day 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A written record, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when the believers used to pass by, they used to gesture at each other with their eyes. 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
