Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
