Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, 1 Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap); 2 Does he think his wealth will abide for ever with him? 3 Nay, but [in the life to come such as] he shall indeed be abandoned to crushing torment! 4 And what have you understood what the Crushing One is! 5 A fire kindled by God, 6 Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men). 7 It shall be made into a vault over them, 8 In columns outstretched. 9

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
