This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a sign unto them that the learned among the Children of Isra'il know it? 197 Had We revealed it to any one of the non-Arabs, 198 So that he should have recited it to them, they would not have believed therein. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 Do they really want Our chastisement to be expedited? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 on those who whisper hearsay in the ears of people; and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley, 225 and preaching what they themselves never practice. 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
