The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 Then he drew near, then he bowed 8 he was but two bows' length or even nearer, 9 so (Allah) revealed to His worshiper (Gabriel) that which he revealed (to Prophet Muhammad). 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered Al-Lat, and Al-'Uzza (two idols of the pagan Arabs). 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are naught but names yourselves have named, and your fathers; God has sent down no authority touching them. They follow only surmise, and what the souls desire; and yet guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Nay, shall man have (just) anything he hankers after? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
