He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
