The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
