The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
