The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
