Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets set, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
