Do you not see how your Lord stretches the shadow? Had it been His will, He could have made it constant. Then He appointed the sun to be a guide to it; 45 Then We withdraw it unto Us, a gradual withdrawal? 46 It is He who has appointed the night a mantle for you and sleep for a rest. The day He has appointed for rising. 47 It is He who loosens the winds, bearing glad tidings before the Hands of His Mercy, and We have sent down pure water from the heaven, 48 That We may quicken thereby a dead land, and We give drink thereof to that which We have created of cattle and human beings many. 49 And indeed, many times have We repeated [all] this unto men, so that they might take it to heart: but most men refuse to be aught but ingrate. 50 Had We pleased We could have raised a warner in every town. 51 hence, do not defer to [the likes and dislikes of] those who deny the truth, but strive hard against them, by means of this [divine writ,] with utmost striving. 52 ۞ It is He Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water: One palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter; yet has He made a barrier between them, a partition that is forbidden to be passed. 53 And it is He who created the human from water and gave him kindred of blood and of marriage. Your Lord is the Powerful. 54 And yet they worship besides God what cannot bring them gain or do them harm. The unbeliever has always been an auxiliary against his Lord. 55 And We sent thee but as a bearer of glad tidings and warner. 56 Say: I ask of you no reward for this, save that whoso will may choose a way unto his Lord. 57 And trust thou in the Living One who dieth not, and hallow His praise; it sufficeth that He of the sins of His bondmen is Aware. 58 Who created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six Days, then He mounted the Throne. The Beneficent! Ask anyone informed concerning Him! 59 But when they are told, 'Bow yourselves to the All-merciful,' they say, 'And what is the All-merciful? Shall we bow ourselves to what thou biddest us?' And it increases them in aversion. ۩ 60
