The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where then will you go? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
